broadening our horizons

the things we take for granted as adults. . .

these things are so funny to watch the little ones discover. 

for instance, the concept of an escalator.

it's really weird if you think about it.

we read corduroy about 10 times a week, and we always talk about him riding on the escalator.

tonight at polaris...eli saw what an esca-way-ter really does, and let's just say he was impressed.

also impressed by ring pops

and grapefruit.

it's really really sour. 

but eli didn't learn the word sour until sunday.

don't you wish you could make this face at people.

like pharmacy customers when they tell you they dropped their vicodin down the toilet by accident.

say what?

new for sam is standing to sitting, to standing, to kneeling, to pulling up.

basically just NOT sitting still.
baby gates are UP.
also...
the word CAR.
certainly not a new concept around this house, since things with wheels make the world go round in eli's world.
sam is catching on to that QUICK.
 

everything with wheels is "car".
no-no, mama, dada, kitty, CAR so far.
i can't wait to hear what he calls "eli".

when markie was a baby, he called me "hoar."
yes that's right, "hoar".
sounds just like erin, especially when everyone else keeps reinforcing that as erin.
luckily "hoar" died down after a few months and no one still calls me that.
(michael called me en-NU, and i still get called that sometimes.)


i love watching their relationship develop.

i think sam pretty much thinks eli is crazy, but a good kinda crazy.
he's  a pretty rad dude.


(usually he won't leave his glasses on... today was a different story. sam's still not having it, but you can bet i will take a picture when it happens!!)
